Gracia on what it’ll take for PSG to sign Doucoure
Javi Gracia has warned Paris St Germain they will have to stump up “a lot of money” to tempt Watford into selling midfield heartbeat Abdoulaye Doucoure, writes Mike Walters.
The runaway French league leaders will try to force through a deal for Doucoure next month, but the Hornets are not interested in being bounced into a quick sale.
And they will not entertain any interest in a player they signed for a bargain £6 million from Rennes two years ago unless the bidding starts at £50m.
Watford head coach Gracia said: “Abdoulaye is a very good professional and I can feel he is very focused and motivated to do well for us.
“I would like him to stay at Watford for a long time but I don’t know for sure what is going to happen next month or in the summer.
“Any club that wants to sign Doucoure will have to pay a lot of money because his value to us as a player is very high.”
Player of the season in 2017-18, Doucoure surprised Watford fans by signing a five-year contract last summer after appearing to wave goodbye after the 2-1 home win against Newcastle seven months ago.
He faces the Toon again at Vicarage Road again today with supporters again wondering if it will their last sighting of him in the Hornets’ colours.
