Mauricio Pochettino has decided to leave star defenders Toby Alderweireld and Kieran Trippier back in London for their Champions League clash with Inter Milan.
Both centre back Alderweireld and full-back Trippier have started all four of Spurs Premier League games so far this season.
The Belgium and England internationals also appeared in both of their nation’s fixtures last week.
But Pochettino insisted that his decision to leave the duo out were tactical, with Hugo Lloris, Dele Alli and Moussa Sissoko also missing out on the match at the San Siro.
“We still have out Hugo Lloris, Dele Alli and Moussa Sissoko,” Pochettino said. “They are in London. They are on the list with players like Foyth and Nkoudou. Then a technical decision in London – Toby Alderweireld and Kieran Trippier .
“It’s a technical decision. You can look it up in the dictionary. Tactical? That is on the pitch, although guess you could say this is tactical off of the pitch.”
Spurs lost their 100 per cent Premier League record when they lost 2-1 to Liverpool .
The north London side will also face Barcelona and PSV Eindhoven in the Champions League group stage.
