The Gunners ran out comfortable winners – albeit at the end of a somewhat unconvincing didsplay – and Emery was subsequently forced post-match to defend his decision to replace the Frenchman with Aaron Ramsey.

Now he faces the media once more, ahead of this weekend’s FA Cup third round clash with Blackpool at Bloomfield Road.

It will be the ex-Sevilla and Paris Saint-Germain manager’s first taste of the world’s oldest cup competition – and Emery is, of course, no stranger to cup success.
